Qualified Teachers and NQTs

A Teaching role requires:

Cover Supervisors

Cover supervisors are suitably-trained and qualified school staff who supervise pupils carrying out pre-prepared exercises when teaching staff are on short-term absence. The cover supervisor’s main job is to manage a classroom, ensuring that students remain on task with the work they have been set. So, if you are considering a career change, or are you thinking of working with young people? Perhaps contemplating teaching as a possible career in the future, then this may be a role for you.

A Cover Supervisor role requires:

  • Supervising work that has been set in accordance with the school policy on planned and unplanned absences such as paternity, maternity, sickness and training courses
  • Having strong leadership skills with a friendly and approachable character and an ability to uphold excellent classroom behaviour is essential
  • Education to a good standard, with proficiency in Maths and English, holding a PGCE is desirable
  • Enhanced DBS and current Education Workforce Council (EWC) registration is essential

Learning Support Assistant (LSA), Teaching Assistants (TA) and Higher Learning Support Assistants (HLTA)

Highgrade Recruitment Ltd is seeking to appoint enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistants to work in local schools with subjects up to KS4. You will be required to assist the teacher with class preparations and show support in all tasks such as display work and light marking, and most importantly you must uphold the rules of the school and the classroom as well as practising safeguarding as per the school behavioural policy. The role will involve supporting a variety of children within the classroom environment.

Teaching Assistant role requirements:

  • An understanding of how children learn most effectively and be able to work under your own initiative
  • Be a team player with good interpersonal skills and a friendly, enthusiastic persona, be patient, approachable and positive
  • Must have a current Enhanced Disclosure & Education Workforce Council (EWC) registration

Exam Invigilators

The invigilator is the person in the examination room responsible for conducting a particular exam session in the presence of the candidates. Invigilators have a key role in upholding the integrity of the examination process. Most importantly you must uphold the rules of the JCQ board for conducting examinations. WJEC Training is provided by Highgrade, free of charge. The role will involve supporting a variety of children within the exam environment.

The Invigilator role requires:

  • Good communication and organisation skills and the ability to adhere to rules and regulations
  • Up to date, mandatory invigilation training to be familiar with JCQ’s ‘Instructions for Conducting Exams’, Warnings & Information to Candidates
  • Invigilators must have a current Enhanced Disclosure (DBS)
